6/4/2023 0 Comments The house that jack built![]() Why? Because it is built into a huge cliff face. The Grotto Inn is a spooky watering hole completely different from the norm. Michael J Hallowell carefully guides the reader with dedicated enthusiasm leaving no stone unturned. Yes it is indeed History with wings and anyone out there who loves to indulge in the long winding road of the past should grab a copy. History with Wings.GROTTO Get a Copy of this! Undoubtedly a 5 star read it's so good I want to read it again! Anyone interested in history will find this book entertaining and local history lovers from my native North-East should definitely make sure that they pick up a copy of this fabulous book. I learnt so much from this amazing book that I am planning to buy a copy when I return it to the library. Legend says that Jibber John never left The Grotto and he haunts the pub to this day.Ībsolutely fascinating from cover to cover, I found The House That Jack Built to be a riveting history of Marsden and the surrounding coastline. This also led onto the history behind the reputed ghost in The Grotto it was one Jibber John who 'jibbed' on his mates to the Excise men causing his ex-friends to string him up and spend the rest of his days in a wooden barrel within the cliff tunnels. This period of time is particularly interesting as smugglers frequented the cove resulting in stories of fighting and plunder. It was Peter Allan who turned the cave into a tourist attraction and often came under the scrutiny of the Excise men as they attempted to catch him selling illegal alcohol. Only it wasn't the Romans that came to collect their treasure, it was the residents of The Grotto, namely Peter Allan and his family, who occupied The Grotto after Blaster Jack. As the Roman Empire began to crumble, I could just imagine the soldiers and their families heading home from our cold and wet island leaving their heavy bags of gold coins behind to collect at a later date. I had never heard of this before, but it makes complete sense as the Roman fort of Arbeia is within a stones throw of Marsden Bay. Although in reality, I was so engrossed in the story of 'The Grotto' that I read several chapters at a time.Ī good deal of the book is about the legend that Roman treasure is hidden within the caves and tunnels of our beautiful limestone cliffs. Chapters are reasonably short and concise, concentrating on one particular period of time, so I found it it a good book to dip in and out of. The House That Jack Built takes us from the first inhabitant in the 18th Century, Blaster Jack and his wife Jessie, right up to present day in the 21st Century. Now that I am older, I realise what a spectacular setting it is and having read The House That Jack Built, I am gobsmacked that people have been visiting this cave dwelling for around 250 years. ![]() It has always been there and didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary to the young me visiting Marsden beach every weekend. ![]() ![]() It is quite true that you never really appreciate places that are on your own doorstep to me, Marsden Grotto has always been just a pub cut into the cliff face. I spent many a Sunday afternoon exploring Marsden Rock and the surrounding caves with my cousins but had no idea of the history of the area.until now. Although I'm a Jarrovian (my family are from Jarrow and I spent my childhood there), I am officially a Sanddancer as I was born in South Shields. ![]()

6/4/2023 0 Comments Review of sizeup![]() ![]() A heavy, chemical, rubber smell oozed from shoe box the moment I opened it. My main problem with the shoes is the smell that accompanies them. You can see the hems popping up to say hello through the lattice work. This becomes a problem around the see-through lattice areas down the center of the chest and circling the waist. My only other complaint is that since the dress is unlined with unfinished hems, the hems don’t lay flat. The dress is so tight around my thighs that I can hardly sit down! Again, I ordered a size 2 in this dress and I needed a size 4 or 6, even though (again) the size chart measurements would make it seem a 4 or 6 would be much too large on me. The dress remains form-fitting, almost bodycon, until it hits my knees, where a tiny flair can be seen, which is much lower on the dress on the model. However, there is no such flair at any part of the dress I received. Now, I’m much shorter than any model so dresses are longer on me. ![]() The dress on the model on the website shows a subtle flair from the model’s hips, creating a gentle bell that hits around the model’s upper thighs. The lace is rough and far from delicate, but I could overlook that. This beautiful blue lace dress is maybe the least problematic of everything I received. The material is thin and unlined with unfinished hems. I ordered a size 2 in the satin dress and I definitely need a size 4. Instead of the fabric lying flat and gently swooping under the chest like it does on the model, it puckers in odd directions, creating an unflattering silhouette to the chest. What makes it worse is the fabric is sewn in such an awkward way that it creates a “sagging boob” effect at the front of the dress. The fabric at the front of the bodice is sewn together below the chest so there isn’t an actual “wrap”. However, this is actually a faux wrap dress. The satin wrap dress is advertised as being an actual wrap dress. This was honestly the most disappointing item from the bunch. The jumpsuit is unlined with unfinished hems and is made with a thin, crepe material. With all of that being said, let’s break down the items I ordered. It also looks like the zipper doesn’t have enough room to zip around the fabric. The zipper track doesn’t allow the zipper to glide easily. Every single zipper on Pretty Little Thing’s clothing is almost impossible to zip on my own. In order for each of the articles of clothing to fit properly, I would have had to order two to three sizes above what the size chart says I should order, which shows how cheaply the clothes are made.Īnother quality issue I noticed are the zippers. Every single item is too small for me, which proves to me that the size chart does not accurately depict the sizes of the clothing you actually receive. When ordering all of the clothes, I studied the size chart to find my size, then ordered a size up. I think one of the main quality issues with Pretty Little Thing is the inaccuracy of their size chart. So instead, you’re getting a very honest review.īefore I dive into each article of clothing, I want to touch on my main concern. It became clear I couldn’t put my name on a positive sponsored blog post for Pretty Little Thing as I tried on each article of clothing. The rainbow and unicorn adorned package arrived at my doorstep and y’all… I went from elated to disappointed quicker than a popped balloon. I chose a series of items – a jumpsuit, two dresses, and a pair of heels – and the rep sent them my way. ![]() I had been curious about Pretty Little Thing for a while and had seen multiple video reviews from Youtubers like Patricia Bright, so I said sure and went shopping for a few items on their site. Several weeks ago, I received an email from British online retailer Pretty Little Thing asking if I would agree to a sponsored post featuring a selection of their clothes. ![]() 6/4/2023 0 Comments Gladiator guild manager guide![]() Using a script or add-on that scans GameFAQs for box and screen images (such as an emulator front-end), while overloading our search engine. There is no official GameFAQs app, and we do not support nor have any contact with the makers of these unofficial apps. ![]() Continued use of these apps may cause your IP to be blocked indefinitely. The capped effect has increasing return for example, when you have a 1-second cooldown, you will have fifty percent more attacks in the time.5 second cooldown, so you won’t find an increase if you have more than twenty intelligence. There is a limit, and after it is filled, you won’t feel an increase. Each of the attributes adds around 2 points of strength, intelligence, and agility. These are the things that are completely useless on their own, but they are the standing point of your gladiator. With each attribute, you have 2 points of movement added. The standing character doesn’t need it, while the character for hunt needs it the most. Movement is how quickly your character is moving or zooming in on the battlefield. ![]() Each of the attributes adds around 30 stamina points. Each skill you own requires stamina, but you can increase it after your skill is raised. After the stamina is depleted, your character needs to rest or stand for regeneration. There is a cost of stamina in the game itself, which can be seen after an attack. Each of the attributes will increase up to around sixty health points. There is a limit to the amount of suffering your gladiator can have it can even die after that. The best thing is that the consumables and items are also one way to increase the same attributes. The core of gladiator is the attributes, and with each level, you can increase up to five times. ![]() ![]() ![]() Once agreed by Parliament, they have to be approved by the King before becoming law. Hardcore fans were only too happy to publish their own painstakingly researched roadmaps unpacking a show's dense lore on their webpages. The X-Files' overarching serialized plotting grew hilariously dense and complicated (whose side were those alien bounty hunters on, again?), because suddenly it had leave to do so. ![]() Still, bagging a full day of PC gaming via the cloud makes the Edge a viable alternative to the ROG Ally on its battery supremacy alone. Then again, the 5G variant of the Razer Edge relies on a partnership with Verizon, which might tempt existing customers. It's not a great look compared to ASUS' efforts to offer the ROG Ally in even more markets than Valve with its Steam Deck. There's also a rough limitation to US-only markets, just like the G Cloud. Our Razer Edge review described the Kishi V2 Pro controller as a double-edged sword, proving to be versatile and easy to attach but drastically negatively affecting standby battery life. Naturally, it's practically identical to its functionality as the Logitech G Cloud, but with fancy upgrades. Boasting an incredible AMOLED touchscreen with a 144Hz refresh rate, it leaves major players like Valve's Steam Deck in the dust regarding visuals. The second of two cloud gaming recommendations, the Razer Edge still has a reasonable reason to rival the ROG Ally, with several serious comparisons in its higher-end components. Still relies on a stable Internet connection, whether Wi-Fi or 5G via Verizon. Still, the controls and screen are gorgeous, and it's a fantastic alternative for those comfortable with subscriptions. ![]() One of the only real downsides is its exclusivity to the United States, which hinders its use compared to any standard cellphone running similar software. With access to NVIDIA GeForce Now to take the stress of rendering PC games off your device, all the heavy lifting can be done externally and beamed to your device with lightning-fast speeds if your Internet supports it. It's a hefty bonus for something that offers such incredible battery life, given that the games are mostly streamed from the cloud unless you opt for native Android titles or emulation. In their Logitech G Cloud review, Zachary Boddy praises yet another comfortable design for extended gameplay sessions, so the competitors hardly seem to suffer in their construction. Although the G Cloud runs a version of Android as its operating system, it gives you access to a handful of services filled with PC titles alongside console alternatives. Handheld consoles designed for streaming services like Xbox Cloud Gaming might seem like a cop-out when you compare it to the ROG Ally and its native rendering but hear me out. Still, not all will suitably compare to the beefy hardware the ROG Ally offers - even with its debatable battery life for all-day gaming. The AyaNeo has other variants with scaling hardware, too. If you're comfortable gaming on a Windows 11 laptop, the same tweaking skills carry over naturally to a handheld running the same OS. With fewer overall users, however, support for lesser-known games will be thin if you can't figure out the bugs yourself. Still, having standard Windows 11 running underneath the graphical frontend means you're free to install any launcher of your choice, with anti-cheat software working as intended. The AyaNeo 2 can be optimized similarly to its competitors, but playing games at high settings won't bag you much longer than 1-2 hours of portable action. Unfortunately, despite all its advantages, there's still the timeless issue of battery life. ![]() Still, the funds went into an appropriately comfortable design, with TechRadar's AyaNeo 2 review claiming it feels like it's built to last with a fancy presentation. Initially starting as an Indiegogo campaign, the AyaNeo 2 is undoubtedly an even steeper option for anyone who thinks ASUS is setting a high price. Still, you get 16GB of DDR5 RAM with a 512GB solid-state drive, like the high-end Steam Deck and the ROG Ally. Before breaking down its specs comparison, the most striking difference relates to its shocking cost, with the most basic model starting at $1,099. Typical weak battery life for high-end gaming.įor a more natural comparison to ASUS' ROG Ally, Windows 11 comes standard with the AyaNeo 2, and pros and cons with it. ![]() 6/3/2023 0 Comments Msi graphics card![]() ![]() TORX FAN 4.0 is built on teamwork, with pairs of fan blades bound together with an outer ring design link that focuses airflow into the updated TWIN FROZR 8 cooling system. 275. This means that to do a contra payment eg an inverse payment (income into an expense account as a refund) is not at all straightforward. The schedule of accounts (aka categories) are all income or expense. Can't select a default option for accounts to be imported and then modify these for the exceptions, so lots of repetitive tasks in this tiny window. Import is done with a tiny modal window that can't be expanded. I have spent the day playing with MoneyWiz 2021 and I've given up with it. As most of the securities I hold I am updating only once a month and the three foreign currency rates are quickly done manually I will wait until my Banktivity subscription finishes I will then swap UNLESS Banktivity by then supports ( again ) Direct Access for European Banks ( something Moneywiz does fantastically but not See Finance ). Result: would be a go for me but I didn't change as I had already paid for a Banktivity subscription which I do not want to waste. The UI is almost like Banktivity so no big change here. I had only problems with two accounts ( very small problem ) and more importantly: my investment holdings showed up 100% correct. SeeFinance on the other hand has a fantastic QIF file import feature allowing several files to be imported at the same time. I ended up with numerous accounts completely out of balance and more importantly none of my investment holdings did show up.Result: A no go for me ! Moneywiz can only handle them individually. With Moneywiz I had huge problems when migrating my data using the Banktivity generated QIF files. I am using Banktivity as well for several years and after they introduced recently the subscription plans I started exploring other alternatives: Is it my fault being a European? That IEX is nonsense for me. Yes I have contacted their customer support, but they just seem completely uninterested in me. I would really prefer a personal finance app, however not if it does the same customer hating things like Banktivity. This didn’t work either: a couple of my securities prices didn’t download. According to Macmostvideo there’s a work around with Google sheets. Numbers? - doesn’t update the security quotes for me. I have read in some of the other threads that some of you also aren’t completely satisfied with Banktivity these days.also I have read that some of you have some suggestions to alternatives. What do you think are the best options instead of Banktivity? I’ve only downloaded the csv-files and as said the security quotes. I have never done the Direct Access, I think it’s risky to give out your online bank information. Especially after already having payed approx. Now they offer you various subscriptions and I’m not very interested in those. For me this is enough to move away from Banktivity, especially since I will be investing in several more securities. But mid June 2020 the security quotes were no longer updated, I had then only my stocks on the Stockholm stock exchange (Nasdaq Stockholm). I’ve been using Banktivity 7 since end of 2019 and have been relatively satisfied with it. ![]() |
